A Baker for the Rest of Us

Hi! My name is renee Brooks, and I am the founder of BAKr, a small cottage-goods bakery I am running out of my home in Charleston, WV. I am using BAKr as an educational experiment to learn how much money you can make by baking cookies from home in your spare time. As I learn new things, I will blog about them here, so feel free to follow along to see if creating an at-home bakery is a thing you want to do.

The Plan

So, with BAKr, I want to make a bakery in West Virginia with 52 distinct cookie flavors on hand for people to enjoy at a moment’s notice. Life is short. I envision my shop in a quaint building where I can ship cookies all over the United States. However, with my business as it is currently, I can only operate within the state of West Virginia in a limited online capacity or at vendor craft shows.
